I Am Often Asked; Why do I want to work with you?
What makes you an "expert" on Trauma, PTSD or Coaching?
What I have to offer you, is real life experience, the experience of suffering with the effects of untreated and debilitating PTSD for close to 30 years, the experience of gaining over 60 lbs as a result of cortisol and self destructive habits. The experience of seeing clealry through the fog of lifes challenges.
And what I can say deifinitively is that I am an expert in what NOT to do, and what DOES NOT work, and when you know what that is, then you know what works.
Did I try therapy? Yes, many times, with more than a few different therapists. The problem with that was, one size does not fit all. Talk therapy is a valuable and successful modality that guides many people through difficult challenges. That said, for many people with PTSD, talk therapy works only to re-experience the traumatic memories associated with your trauma.
And more often than not, you leave that therapy feeling worse than when you got there.
Think of your traumatic memories as an alphabet soup of horrible events. You let it come to a boil on the stove that is your mindworking overtime, you turn the stove off for a minute and the stew of traumatic memories settles to the bottom of the pan.
Talk therapy for me and those I have described this to, is like a big wooden spoon shoved into the pot and stirring things up. Imagine thats your traumatic memories being all stirred up, as if anyone needs that to realize they are there, and imagine compounding those memories in a manner that forces you to re-live those moments. Not a very pleasant thought is it?

"There's Strength in Vulnerability, Power in Small Steps"
It took me years to find my way to the other side, but onceI was there, I could look back at the path I took and see very clearly the
mis-steps, the wrong turns and the things I tried that were counter productive and only served to deepen my descent into the darkest depths and memories of my trauma and ultimately to a secluded river bank in New Hampshire with the intent on ending this horrible cycle once and for all. You dont have to end up in a similar place to find healing or peace. I can show you how.
Somatic EMDR and me; (Its Not Magic)It wasnt until I learned about EMDR and decidedto give it a try that I found relief from the"Traumatic Instant Replay Experience", a phrase I coined in therapy when describing what I had been seeing in my minds eye for over twenty five years, that essentially shaped my life, my realtionships and my dismal view of what the future held for me.
It was during those sessions that we determined that I had been stuck in a loop, living continuously in a state of "Fight, Flight, Freeze or Fawn" with an ongoing flashback of the events of a single day in my life. I asked about EMDR and was given some resources to research. I found someone that was trained and spent many friday afternoons following my talk therapy sessions engaged in the practice as a client. My life changed as a result of that treatment.
EMDR helped me profoundly to overcome what I had been experiencing and feeling for all those years. I ultimately found a course given by some of the foremost experts in the field, and through that I discovered Somatic EMDR and pursued becoming certified in it. During that process I was able to further heal my own trauma and gain the tools and skills to integrate that into what is now my coaching process.
